This interactive presentation addresses the need for the physiotherapy profession to take a multipronged approach to the leading health challenges in Iceland this century, that is, lifestyle-related conditions (e.g., heart disease, lung disease, hypertension, stroke, diabetes). This involves all stakeholders: physiotherapy academics and students as well as ministries of health, professional bodies, clinicians, and patients. Physiotherapy academics and students have significant roles to advance the profession through their unique influences and contributions which are described, and in turn, inform government, support initiatives through professional bodies and augment continuing professional education of clinicians. By maximizing their influences, faculty members and students can enable the profession to lead with respect to best health care practice in Iceland.
